We enjoyed a fun-filled New Year's Eve ringing in 2013 at The Kilpatricks. Good food, holiday cheer & a friendly family competition playing the game "Sorry" too. The girls loved their fancy hats & noise makers as they ran through the house yelling "Happy New Year" over & over & over :) And they got to stay up late too!!! A fun way for us to ring out the old & bring in the new. Happy New Year.

Well we don't have much snow in the city but our friends in the suburbs certainly do :) So they invited us out to their house for a sledding playday, followed by dinner, more playtime & a movie. The kids enjoyed solo & double rides on the sleds...over & over & over :) What a fun way to spend a winter day during our holiday break!!! :) Thanks Caitlyn & Jake for a very fun day for all.

Our Little Mary
Tonight Gracie was Mary in her school's Christmas Concert. She was selected from all the first grade girls & was very excited to play the part & carry Baby Jesus. She looked angelic tonight :) What a wonderful Christmas Concert. And so exciting that Papa & Nana & Uncle Bob got to come with us too!!! :)
The Posada
Today Josie's class had a Posada Celebration. The Posada is a Christmas celebration that captures the surprise & suspense of the season. The word Posada means "inn" or shelter" in spanish. Children dress in white or tan to represent shepards & act out the journey through Bethlehem, going from door to door seeking to find a dry, safe place for Baby Jesus to be born. This is a Christmas Tradition for the preschoolers at St. Clement School. After they journey through the school knocking on classroom doors & being turned away, the parents surprise them by hosting a party & offering them shelter & food in the cafeteria. The look on their faces was absolutely precious. And Papa & Nana were part of the surprise too. Josie enjoyed the surprise as well as christmas cookies, fruit & hot chocolate. What a wonderful celebration to capture the true meaning of Christmas. We absolutely love this time of year!!!

Josie's Christmas Concert
Today was Josie's Christmas Concert at school...she's in the red dress & red bow in the front row. Her teachers told me that she had been practicing really hard in music class for the BIG performance. And Gracie's teacher stopped me outside of school to tell me how good she did in the dress rehearsal :) Due to the size, I can't post entire videos of the songs but I'll post a couple of her singing :) Yay for Josie as she knew the words to every song!!! We can't wait to buy this on dvd :) And I was on the decorating committee & I am so pleased with how the decorations turned out too!!! Such a magical time of year.

Star Ornaments :)
Today I helped Josie's class make star ornaments out of gold & silver glitter as part of the decoration for their Christmas Concert on Friday. And after the concert they get to take the ornaments home to hang on their Christmas tree. "It's beautiful!!!" is what Josie said after making hers. And look at that smile :) A fun day for both of us.

2012 Lincoln Park Zoo Lights
Mid 50 degree weather on December 1st made it a perfect night for our first Lincoln Park Zoo Lights Outing. So we joined our friends The Kilpatrick's for a fun-filled festive night at the zoo. And the girls did lots & lots of singing & dancing at their favorite spot "the dancing trees". And we ran into our good friend Rudolph too :) We look forward to many more Zoo Lights this month. One of our favorite holiday traditions. Let's hope the warm weather continues too.
