This week is Catholic Schools Week & the week is filled with fun festivities everyday to celebrate. Today was an Open House & parents were invited to come visit the classroom & work on a special project with their child. Gracie wrote us a letter inviting us to come to her classroom :) She was very proud of her letter & extremely pleased that I was going to be able to attend. Her class project was to interview their parents about what they remember about being in 1st Grade. Oh what fun we had talking about my days in Catholic School. She also gave me a tour of her classroom & pointed out that her name was on the "Tooth Fairy List" for loosing a tooth in January. And the letter that we wrote her at the Open House last fall was still hanging up :) She drew a picture & quote of what she was looking forward to in first grade & we left her a special message. Josie was very excited to see me too & her class is making a blanket with family photos. So we designed our family patch in purple with lots of jewels & buttons. We can't wait to see the final project. And Josie was selected to be Father Manny's helper on the alter at the All School Mass on Monday so I enjoyed all the stories about how brave she was on the alter (and cute too!!!). She's still talking about it :)
The girls had the day off of school today so it was time to play...yay!!! So what better way to spend the day than with good friends :) Queen Jenny & Princess Taylor invited us over for a Royal Tea Party. The princesses dressed up as their favorite princess & enjoyed fancy tea sandwiches, fresh fruit, marvelous mac & cheese & of course a cup of tea (spiced apple cider :) Their American Girl Dolls were invited to the tea party too & they had their own table :) After the tea party, the princesses enjoyed lots of dress-up fun in Taylor's Princess bedroom. The Queen Mommy's enjoyed the party too...chicken salad, fruit & a glass of bubbly!!! A fun-filled day for all us girls :)
We are off to The Zwiefelhofer's to watch the BIG GAME & play with cousins Zoey & Lucy. Us girls plan on yelling extra loud in our lucky socks...Let's Go Packers!!! And we will only be a few miles from the Wisconsin border too :) It will definitely be a fun-filled day.
Uncle Bob is coming over tonight to celebrate his birthday with us. So we decided to make homemade brownies for the party. The girls enjoyed our afternoon of baking & they especially liked sampling the chocolate chips. Time to take off our aprons & put on our party dresses as Gracie wants to dress up for Uncle Bob's Birthday Party!! :)
The girls have been VERY interested in cooking with me lately. They have been flipping through the pages of the cookbooks that Nana Marci gave them & have been requesting to make all kinds of yummy goodies:) Gracie use to love to watch the Food Network with me when she was a toddler & over Christmas Break she asked if we could watch a cooking show together :) Perfect timing for me too as I've been looking for some new cooking inspirations for the new year. So we decided to watch one or our favorite chefs, Giada de Laurentiis. It just so happened that the show was Giada cooking with kids & the main entree was macaroni & cheese cupcakes. Perfect as we love macaroni & cheese & cupcakes!!! The recipe started with the mac & cheese basics & then recommended adding veggies & proteins too. And the best part, you make them in a muffin pan!!! We decided to make our mac & cheese with 3 different cheeses & 2 of our favorite veggies, peas & corn. And for our protein, Gracie picked BACON. And we added some jalapenos for daddy :) The girls LOVED making them, watching them bake & eating them too. I have a feeling we'll be making these again soon.
Today we are enjoying some more game day fun & we are rooting for Mommy's Team The Packers. And the girls were very happy that their team colors are also green & gold as it worked out perfectly with our decorations :) Our pre-game fun consisted of playing a few board games & enjoying hot dogs, french fries & a few chips & dips. At game time it was all football as the girls cheered VERY LOUDLY & really got into the game. Asking lots & lots of questions too :) Gracie was concerned they were going to lose so thankfully they weren't behind for too long. We are already planning for another football Saturday family party next week. Let's Go Packers!!!
The girls go back to school on Monday so we decided to have a GDO also known as "Girls Day Out!!!" on Friday. They really wanted to go out for lunch & to a movie. So we enjoyed lunch & hot chocolates at The Edge. And a post lunch playday with some girlfriends :) Since there wasn't a movie playing in the Theater that they wanted to see, we came home & unwrapped one of the movies we got for Christmas "Brave". And we snuggled on the couch with some of our favorite movie snacks...popcorn & M&M's. They loved the movie & we all enjoyed the movie snacks :) A very fun GDO!!!
The Oregon Ducks play tonight in The Fiesta Bowl & Daddy is very excited to watch his beloved "Ducks" in action. So "us girls" decided it would be fun to decorate the basement & SURPRISE him!!! Mommy handled decorating the bar with green & gold pom poms...Ducks colors, of course, along with a football runner, helmets & napkins. Gracie & her American Girl Doll, Lanie organized the drinks, a variety of diet coke cocktails as "It's Daddy's favorite drink!!!" And Josie & her baby made cookies for us all to enjoy at game time. But wait, the girls decided it wasn't complete until we added some ducks to our party so we added them too. As you can see, Daddy was very SURPRISED :) Let's Go Ducks!!!
