Another 10+ Foot Tree

Today we went on our annual search for the PERFECT Christmas tree.  A fun-filled family tradition that we do every year right after Thanksgiving.  After picking out the best 10+ foot tree in the lot, we enjoyed the 2 block walk home with our tree...so fun!!!  And it really was a family effort carrying the tree home :)  Time to decorate.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

We decided to celebrate Thanksgiving Eve by watching the movie "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" with our friends Ellie & Sloane.   And what better way to get into the holiday spirit than to serve the girls the Thanksgiving Feast that Snoopy made for the his friends...buttered toast, some pretzel sticks, a handful of popcorn & a few M&M's (well in the movie they serve a few jelly beans but we decided to serve a few M&M's instead :)  The girls sure enjoyed Snoopy's take on Thanksgiving & they thought it was very funny that the movie ended with Snoopy & Woodstock enjoying Turkey & all the trimmings along with a big slice of pumpkin pie.   We are now ready for Thanksgiving...Bring on The TURKEY!!! :)

India Princesses

Enjoying some dress-up fun wearing dresses from India that Ellie (and her Mommy Mandy) brought back from their last trip to India!!!  The girls thought it was super cool to dress up like the little girls do everyday in India. "And they get to wear scarfs too!!!" says Gracie!!! :) I absolutely love how cute they each look too.

Girls Night In

Daddy had plans with some of his friends tonight so we hosted a "Girls Night In" at our house with some of our favorite friends :)  The girls helped plan the menu which included kid favorites & after dinner they enjoyed lots & lots of girly fun in their room. :)

Apple Fontina Pizza.

"Absolutely Delicious!!!"  And so fun to make too :)

Pizza Cooking Class

What better way to kick-off the Thanksgiving Holiday & a week off of school too :) then going to a Thanksgiving inspired cooking class with some friends.  Since the girls love pizza, we thought it would be fun to make a fancy one that we may just add to our Thanksgiving menu this year.  The little chefs made an Apple Fontina Pizza.  They started by rolling the dough & then chopped the onion & garlic, sliced the apples & shredded the fontina & parmesan cheese.  After helping clean up the kitchen they enjoyed the best part...tasting their masterpieces.   "Absolutely delicious" according to Josie!!!  :)

Pretty Butterfly

This week Gracie's class is studying Native Americans & to get into the theme each child got to pick a Native American name.  Gracie chose the name "Pretty Butterfly" which was not surprising since she has always loved butterflies & butterfly was also one of the first words she learned too :)  To help her get into the theme, we thought it would be fun for the entire family to have a Native American name. So we each selected one & have been calling each other by the name all week.  Daddy was "Tall Tree, Mommy was "Bright Sunshine" & Josie was "Pretty Blossom".   Such a fun way to celebrate culture. Pictured above is her name plate at school.

Fashionista Gracie

I'm not sure if she is getting her fashion sense from her mommy or if she is just creating her own unique style?!?!?!  Perhaps we have a future designer on our hands???  Either way she sure is resourceful using blankets for a skirt & shawl & barrettes as buttons. And yes, that is a veil on her head too. This girl loves to dress up!!! So fun :)

Library Buddies

Today I volunteered for library for Gracie's class & Josie was so excited to join me too :)  When your mom &/or dad volunteer for library you get to sit on your mom or dad's lap while they read the story to the class.  Gracie was so excited to sit on my lap.  And Josie was very excited to sit on my lap too :)  So with both girls on my lap, I read the book to the class :) I also had 3 of Gracie's friends want to sit on my lap too but luckily they were satisfied by sitting by my feet.  A very fun day at the library with my girls!!!

Picnic & Movie Night

Ending the weekend with an "impromptu" picnic & movie night in the playroom after an eventful weekend & a time change too :)

Hot Chocolate 15K Race

This morning I ran the 15 K/9.3 Mile Hot Chocolate Race...also known as "America's Sweetest Race". It was the first long distance race that I've run since the girls were born.  I was super pumped for the race & the girls were very excited to ride the train downtown with daddy to cheer me on. It gave me some added motivation knowing that I'd see them at mile 2 & at the finish line too.  Thankfully Kris gave me good instructions on where they would be standing so I was able to wave to them from a distance & stop to say hi while Kris snapped a few photos.  The race was lots of fun & I beat my goal finish time too & finished in the top 90% of female runners...yay!!!  The hot chocolate & chocolate fondue upon finishing the race was an added bonus too. Best hot chocolate & fondue ever!!! :)
